Bio

Joshua “13row” Mairena Nyquist is a figurative and experimental painter born in Honolulu, Hawaii, who is currently pursuing his BFA in drawing and painting at Laguna College of Art and Design. Influenced by Southern California’s skate culture, hip hop and tattoo culture, his works aim to elevate traditional lowbrow elements while paying homage to said subcultures. His current body of work focuses on portraits as well as full figure compositions with an emphasis on subjects with tattoos.
